If you need to cancel or reschedule a driving session within 24 hours of the scheduled session time, there is a $50 fee to cover the cost of the instructor and it has to be paid before the next session will be scheduled. Do I need Driver's Education if I'm older? In Louisiana, if you are 18 years of age or older, by law you still have to complete a driver's education course to obtain a driver's license. However, you only have to take a 14-hour course and not the standard 38-hour course. This class consists of 6 hours of instruction, all given in one day, and then eight hours of Behind-the-Wheel training, broken into (4) two-hour sessions. In addition, you do not have to go to from a TIP card to a permit. You get to go straight to a driver's license after you pass the Road Skills Test.

What's the minimum age to start Driver's Education? All applicants aged 14 and 9 months to 16 must participate in the graduated licensing program and start with a learner’s permit after finishing a 38-hour Driver's Education course from a licensed third-party school, like AGI Driving Academy. The applicant is authorized to drive with a licensed parent, guardian, or adult at least 21 years of age, or a licensed sibling at least 18 years of age or older. The applicant must pass a vision and knowledge test, hold a permit for 180 days, and be 16 years old, to upgrade to an intermediate license. At 21 years of age, you will get fully licensed.

How long does it typically take to complete the driver's education course? The duration of a driver's education course in Louisiana can vary depending on several factors, including the specific program you choose, your availability, and the requirements set by the driving school or instructor. That being said, if there aren't any scheduling conflicts we get your driving done the week following your successful classroom completion.

Can I transfer from another driving school to AGI Driving Academy?Yes. However, if you are in the middle of a session you paid for and can finish it with that school, try to do so. If you don't, you won't get a certificate of completion and will not be able to move forward with the next phases of the licensing process. What we often get is students will finish the classroom portion with one company and then want to finish with AGI.
