Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

Through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), eligible applicants receive a government grant to attend courses, build their skillset and obtain reliable employment. M.E.T. (Motivational Education Training)

Vocational Rehabilitation Program

Vocational Rehabilitation, the flagship program of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, is a one-stop career development program that offers individuals with disabilities a wide range of services designed to provide them with the skills, resources, attitudes, and expectations needed to compete in the interview process, get the job, keep the job, and develop a lifetime career.

LRS' Vocational Rehabilitation Program provides comprehensive rehabilitation services that go far beyond those found in routine job training programs. This frequently includes work evaluation and job readiness services; assessment for and provision of assistive technology, such as customized computer interfaces for persons with physical or sensory disabilities; job counseling services, and medical and therapeutic services.

Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Scholarship:

Since 1973, the TCA Scholarship Fund has been helping students with connections to the truckload industry. The Fund awards up to $6,250 per year, per full-time undergraduate college student and up to $2,000 for students attending 2-year colleges. Company-Sponsored Training Programs:

Many truck driving companies have programs in place where they will pay back new drivers for their training costs, often with specific contractual conditions attached. These are some examples.

Tuition Reimbursement: Some companies offer to reimburse the cost of CDL training after a driver has worked for them for a specified period.

Pay Back through Employment: Instead of direct payment, companies might train new drivers at their own schools or through partnered schools. The "pay back" comes in the form of a commitment to work for the company for a set duration.

Sign-On Bonuses: Some companies provide sign-on bonuses which can be used towards paying off training costs
